IL BUGIARDO VALPOLICELLA RIPASSO "BUGLIONI"
"Il Bugiardo" is the flagship wine of the Buglioni winery. Made using the traditional Ripasso technique, which involves re-fermenting Valpolicella Classico over the still warm and sugar-rich Amarone pomace, this wine inherits its structure, complexity, and warmth, while maintaining surprising drinkability and freshness.
The character of this Ripasso is the result of a skillful blend of indigenous grape varieties, each with a precise role in creating the final harmony:
Corvina (60%): This is the queen of Valpolicella. It provides the main structure, silky tannins, and the unmistakable aroma of morello cherry and ripe cherry.
Corvinone (20%): The "older brother" of Corvina, essential for giving depth to the color and a spicy complexity (black pepper) that evolves magnificently with aging in wood.
Rondinella (10%): Fundamental for its resistance and consistency, it gives the wine savoriness, freshness, and those delicate herbaceous notes that balance the power of the first two grape varieties.
Croatina and Oseleta (10%): Buglioni's distinctive touch. Croatina adds softness and notes of berries, while Oseleta (an ancient and rare grape variety) is the "character" of the blend: it provides intense color, firm tannins, and a mineral structure that makes the wine long-lived.
